Amazing Friday Night....

So last night was the last WOW 2010. I was so sad to say good-bye to my 7th grade small group gals! But not to worry, I still have phone numbers, mailing AND email addresses.

When we were leaving Colonial Heights (around 10 pm), I promised the girls ice cream. So we stopped at McDs and, OF COURSE, the ice cream maching was broken! So we stopped at the NEXT McDs - and there machine was broken too! I begged her to please try and she was able to "squeeze" ONE more ice cold treat out!

As we were leaving, all three girls had to use the restroom. So, while I wait, a woman approaches me for a ride...ugh-I was scared, so I said I wasn't traveling that direction. I felt so guilty - and noticed the gas gauge was a little low, but KNEW I could make it home... So, if you guessed this story has a bad ending, it DOES! Just before Williamsburg, I RUN OUT OF GAS on Interstate 64 at midnight (with 3 children in my car!). I have NEVER run out of gas (okay, I guess I have now!) and although I wasn't scared, I was SOOOOOO tired! My poor husband had to bring gas (and he WASN'T happy about it!) and we didn't get home until about 1 am!

What did I learn??? STOP for gas at a quarter of a tank!

What's in the Bible

I have the honor of reviewing What's in the Bible, a DVD series recently released by the creator of Veggie Tales! I sat down last night and watched the first two episodes and can't wait to tell you all about them (I even took notes - impressed!?!?!) Not to mention the opportunity to offer you a chance to win a copy! Keep an eye on this blog for further details...you won't regret it!

Busy, busy, busy - Blessed, blessed, blessed

Oh my gosh, what a fabulous weekend! I just love when I SEE God working! He never ceases to amaze me! On Friday afternoon, I took my girls (plus a sweet friend of Brooke's) to SPA NIGHT at Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, VA. I was expecting a night of girly fun. WOW (which happens to be the name of this 9-week event for middle school aged girls - stands for Women of Worth) does not begin to describe the night! Let me begin by saying that this Church is absolutely beautiful (inside (I mean inside the hearts of the members) and out!). Each room was incredibly decorated for the girls, each speaker was prepared/highly gifted, and every heart in leadership was looking upward! I could list every detail (and will if you like), but let me summarize to say that God was MOVING that night! I left that Church (around midnight) on a Spiritual high for the girls (and for ME!).

We then went to check into our hotel and it was fabulous! The hotel was pretty new and our room was huge! We all went to sleep and arose at 8 am to start the day pool-side (at least I was on the side-doing my Bible study while the girls enjoyed the heated pool).

We came home to a sleep-over, followed by Sunday morning Worship and teaching (5th grade). What a fabulous weekend! I am so incredibly blessed!

NCC Bible Reading Plan

Please join me in reading the Bible in a year! NCC will begin this Wednesday (the beginning of Lent) and has numerous on-line resources! Please check out the web site and join us! They also have a facebook page, twitter, and emails (and a couple other icons I'm not sure what they mean).

I can't wait to get started...

OH MY GOSH!!!!! What a night.....

Let me begin by saying it was raining cats and dogs last night and the traffic was terrible! I almost gave up and went home - but I know that the battles we fight are NOT against human flesh! I pushed ahead - and prayed OUT LOUD for the Lord to help me find the location and get me there in time! I hate to miss one word Sharon speaks!

I am so grateful that HE helped me! It was an amazing meeting! Sharon's vision is three-fold: 1 team to make a friend at the jail in NN; 1 team to teach classes at the jail; and 1 team to create/send baskets to the adult entertainment industries in our area. If anyone is interested in getting on a team - PLEASE let me know! I can hook you up!

The best part of the night is that I had a feeling deep down that this ministry is for me! Sharon told us to go home and pray and let her know our decision.... I will be seeking His guidance non-stop! We are challenged to be His hands and feet! I want to serve Him with all that is within me!

Please pray for the project and the women in NN that we can show the Light of the Lord!

Evening Activity

As I am preparing to leave work for the day, I am so excited about where I'm headed! Not that home isn't awesome, because it is, but tonight I will be going to a mission meeting. Sharon Thomas, of Established Footsteps Ministry, is hosting a meeting for those of us that have always wanted to go on a mission trip, but due to current life circumstances, aren't able to travel around the world. We will be discussing the mission field in our backyard! I can't wait!

As my faith continues to grow, thanks in huge part to many pastor's teaching/writings, I can't wait to serve God in this way!

I'll keep you posted on what I'll be doing! Off to the meeting!

Sweet, sweet daughter....

For all the fellow parents out there, you will understand this comment: some times my daughter just amazes me with her kindness! As we were preparing to leave the house for Worship this morning, she went to her room and grabbed her piggy bank (she got it for Christmas-a digital bank that counts FOR you as you add the change). She had over $5 in change and she gave EVERY BIT OF IT for her class offering. I was SOOO proud of her! I told her she provided food for a child that doesn't have any...the children's offerings are sent to the children of Romania.

THAT'S what it means to walk the walk - do what Jesus commanded us! Feed His sheep! Praise God!
