As I am preparing to leave work for the day, I am so excited about where I'm headed! Not that home isn't awesome, because it is, but tonight I will be going to a mission meeting. Sharon Thomas, of Established Footsteps Ministry, is hosting a meeting for those of us that have always wanted to go on a mission trip, but due to current life circumstances, aren't able to travel around the world. We will be discussing the mission field in our backyard! I can't wait!
As my faith continues to grow, thanks in huge part to many pastor's teaching/writings, I can't wait to serve God in this way!
I'll keep you posted on what I'll be doing! Off to the meeting!

Sweet, sweet daughter....
For all the fellow parents out there, you will understand this comment: some times my daughter just amazes me with her kindness! As we were preparing to leave the house for Worship this morning, she went to her room and grabbed her piggy bank (she got it for Christmas-a digital bank that counts FOR you as you add the change). She had over $5 in change and she gave EVERY BIT OF IT for her class offering. I was SOOO proud of her! I told her she provided food for a child that doesn't have any...the children's offerings are sent to the children of Romania.
THAT'S what it means to walk the walk - do what Jesus commanded us! Feed His sheep! Praise God!

Wait for it....Wait for it.....
Gotcha...I'm not ready to write my review just yet...I was feeling the NEED to listen to Pastor Mark Driscoll preach on the book of Revelation. He says, "We will be blessed if we READ it, the Bible doesn't say you have to UNDERSTAND it." HA! Thank God for his explanation!!!!!

Audio Book Review - Just Do Something
I am currently working on an audio book review of the book Just Do Something by Kevin DeYoung. I listen so intently, wanting to be sure I grasp every possible detail, but it takes me a few listens to get it all down!
In the beginning I really liked this book (thinking I agreed with everything he said-which may be a bad thing...). Then, I had numerous questions for the author (which could be a good thing...really gets you thinking). But now, I'm thinking he is trying really hard to get his point across, but may be offending people while doing it. He has a few points to ponder...so I will listen to a couple of the chapters again tomorrow and hope to post my review tomorrow night. It may take an extra day, however....so stay tuned...

A Review of A Sweet & Bitter Providence by John Piper
Let me begin by saying how much I admire John Piper. I enjoy reading his books and listening to his sermon podcasts on-line. He is a man of great knowledge of the Word and a depth of wisdom. As I prepare to write my review, I read other reviews and agreed with a few of the comments. I felt as though some themes were reviewed over and over, creating mind-wandering (audio). Another irritation for me was the reading of the heading with no change in voice inflection; numerous times words were repeated, creating confusion.
I love his constant use of Scripture references. I truly admire those that can recall easily from memory, in the correct context. I loved his review of the book of Ruth. I enjoy hearing the reading of Scripture; especially such an amazing story of how God uses many unsuspecting people (sinners, various ethnic groups, people without wealth, people with wealth, men, women….) to His glory. It gives hope that I can be used in the same way! He also reminds us that our answers don’t come in “our” time, but in HIS. This can take time, which is difficult to comprehend in this day and time (a time of instant gratification).
His review of God’s sovereignty created questions in my mind and caused me to ponder the topic (and obtain various opinions/readings). I had been of the belief that God “allowed” bad things to happen. But Piper points out that God is too big for that. He controls everything, which is ultimately used to glorify God. I had never given much thought to the purity of Ruth and Boaz, but appreciated his comments (especially in today’s culture).
I would recommend this book to everyone (for one reason or another). The love story in itself is amazing. There are so many marvelous stories in the Bible!
